About

Capturing flags, thwarting threats, and making cybersecurity accessible one endpoint at a time.

John Hammond, a Principal Security Researcher at 杏吧传媒, discovered his passion for cybersecurity as an undergraduate at the US Coast Guard Academy, where competing in a 鈥淐yberstakes鈥 capture the flag event opened his eyes to vulnerabilities, exploits, and hacker tradecraft. At 杏吧传媒, he focuses on endpoint security, digging into living-off-the-land techniques and obfuscated scripting payloads.

With a stack of certifications鈥攊ncluding LFCS, PCAP, CompTIA Security+, CEH, eJPT, eCPPT, OSCP, OSCE (classic and 3), OSWP, OSEP, OSED, and OSWE鈥擩ohn brings serious technical prowess to the team. He鈥檚 honored to have received the RITA Award at Wild West Hacking Fest from Black Hills Information Security, and he credits the supportive, mission-driven environment at 杏吧传媒 for enabling him to do meaningful work.

John is also an active voice in the community, sharing his experience through these 杏吧传媒 on-demand webinars:

Before joining 杏吧传媒, John served as an instructor and curriculum developer with the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center and Cyber Training Academy, and later as a Red Team Cyber Operator at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

His top cybersecurity tip is a simple one: 鈥淯se a password manager鈥攕eriously!!鈥

Outside of work, John loves spending time with his family and taking the rest he needs to stay sharp. He also shares his life with two dogs, Bam Bam and Pebbles鈥攏amed after the beloved Flintstones characters, of course.
